50 Cent sued by teen assault victim
HIP
hop mogul 50 Cent, Universal Music Group and several of its
record labels are being sued for promoting a "gangsta
lifestyle" by a 14-year-old boy who says friends of the
rapper assaulted him.The lawsuit filed by James
Rosemond and his mother, Cynthia Reed, says Universal Music
Group and its labels Interscope Records, G-Unit Records and
Shady Records, bear responsibility for the assault because
they encourage artists to pursue violent, criminal
lifestyles. The lawsuit also names 50 Cent - whose real name
is Curtis Jackson - Violator Management, Violator chief
executive Chris Lighty, Tony Yayo, a rapper and a member of
50 Cent's G-Unit hip hop group, and Lowell Fletcher, an
employee of Yayo. All defendants declined to comment. James
says he was assaulted on a Manhattan pavement in March 2007
by four men including Yayo and Fletcher. The lawsuit claims
James was targeted because he was wearing a T-shirt by Czar
Entertainment, a management company that represents The
Game. The Game is a former G-Unit rapper who fell out with
the group and had become a rival rapper. In February, Yayo,
whose real name is Marvin Bernard, pleaded guilty to
harassment and was sentenced to ten days of community
service.Fletcher pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare
of a child and was sentenced to nine months in jail. The
members of G-Unit, including defendants Yayo and 50 Cent,
encouraged, sanctioned, approved and condoned its members
threatening violence, and or engaging in violent acts in
furtherance of its business," the lawsuit said. The attack
on James was intended to "promote and maintain Yayo and 50
Cent's 'gangsta' image," which was "promoted, marketed and
advertised" by record labels.

A True AMERICAN Hero is Born
Olympic Torch bearer and McArthur Genius Award recipient, Majora Carter,
expressed her American civil rights by pulling a Tibetan flag from her sleeve
and was immediately set upon by Chinese paramilitary police and San Francisco
police.
Her Chinese escort grabbed the flag from her and San Francisco police
officers pushed her into the crowd. Said Carter, "As a civil rights activist in
this country, I could not have these privileges and not use them."
Fellow torch bearer Richard Doran, FDNY said, “"I think she dishonored
herself and her family." Carter responded, "It would be more disgusting not
exercising my constitutional right", adding that her deceased parents would have
been "thrilled".
Farmer Trades Wife For A Goat
Farmer Stoil Panayotov, who has been married three times, has not had any
luck with his wives bearing children. As a result, he struck a deal with a
farmer at a livestock market to trade him his current wife for an eight-year-old
goat named Elena.
The Bulgarian farmer explains: "A friend told me he had no luck with women
and that he really liked my wife. The deal was reached when my wife gave
approval." The swap was concluded in the market town of Plovdiv as stunned
onlookers watched.
Added Stoli: "The goat has given birth to three kids and my wife to none.
This deal was more profitable to the goat owner. I got a second hand goat and he
got a brand new wife."

Scientists Announce Alzheimer's Cure in Minutes
Researchers at the Institute for Neurological Research at the University of
California have announced that they have discovered a revolutionary new way of
reducing the symptoms of Alzheimer's by injecting patients with anti-arthritic
drugs.
The scientists say the treatment reduces the symptoms of the disease in a matter
of minutes and gave a 90 per cent respond rate to their trials using 50 patients
in a private clinic.
The Alzheimer's Society's helpline phone lines were jammed within minutes of
the BBC reporting the news by people demanding details of the treatment. Experts
have urged caution saying more tests are needed before drawing conclusions.

Xbox 360 and Wii video game news
REDMOND, Wash., April 10, 2008 – The ongoing excitement over Nintendo’s
groundbreaking Wii system gets a surprise springtime boost with the
announcement of a new game. Kicking off its semiannual media summit in
San Francisco near the company’s new sales and marketing offices in
Redwood City, Calif., Nintendo of America today revealed plans for Mario
Super Sluggers for Wii, giving baseball fans even more reason to root
this season.“Mario is truly a one-of-a-kind character; clearly fans
can’t get enough of him and his friends,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo
of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re
giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our
series of active-play games.”In the same spirit as other sports-themed
Mario games on Wii like Mario Strikers Charged and Mario Kart Wii, Mario
Super Sluggers blends richly interactive baseball action with eccentric
characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe. Players
can swing the wireless Wii Remote just like a real bat or wave it toward
the plate to deliver a masterful pitch, enjoying the same intuitive,
easy-to-learn controls that helped make Wii Sports a living room hit.
With Mario and his unpredictable pals filling out the roster,
imagination and active-play innovation are sure to dominate the diamond
in this lively title, scheduled for release later this year. |
