Teen Rides Shopping Cart With Help From SUV;
Dead
The Florida Highway Patrol says that 18-year-old Winter Park
resident Cameron Bieberle lost his life late Saturday after trying
to hang on to an SUV to get going faster in the shopping cart he was
in.
The driver, Orlando resident 23-year-old Michael Smith, took his
Cadillac Escalade over a speed bump in the University Walk
Apartments parking lot, causing the shopping cart to overturn and
Bieberle to be ejected.
Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. Smith and a
passenger, 17-year-old Shaun Kirylczuk, did not suffer any injuries.
Charges against Smith are pending.
Lawn Gnome From Hell
Teenager Jose Alvarez of General Guemes, Argentina was hanging
out with his friends taking video with his cell phone when they
heard someone throwing rocks.
"We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To
begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like
figure begin to emerge we were really afraid," said Jose. Jose
caught the gnome on video.
According to Jose others have now come forward reporting that
they too had seen the gnome. "This is no joke. We are still afraid
to go out - just like everyone else in the neighborhood now."
Boy Crashes Electrical Devices With His Natural
Static Field
New York: 12-year-old Joseph Falciatano can crash electrical
devices just by being near them. His school expressed concern that
computers would crash for him only and work perfectly for others.
His parents also noticed his unusual effect.
Joseph's Xbox 360 would freeze when he touched a wired
controller. Even with a wireless controller he has to sit across the
room. For him to use a computer he has to be on a grounding pad and
earth himself with an anti-static wrist strap.
Joseph has been monitored by experts without any definitive
result. So far the best explanation is that his unique body
chemistry produces a large amount of static electricity but the
mechanism remains unknown. |

Virgin Mary Reported in Clouds, Dozens go Blind Staring at Sky
Eye doctors in a small Indian village have their work cut out for them after
an image of the Virgin Mary was reported to be hovering in the sky. The likeness
was apparently viewed over the former home of a hotel owner, and word began to
spread.
Unwitting believers stared up into the sky to catch a glimpse of the
phenomenon, despite the blazing sun. As a result, the intense sunlight has
rendered nearly fifty people blind with retina burns.
Local churches have told people to stop looking up at the sun, and that there
is no miraculous image to behold. Shortly before this began, the hotel owner
reported other events such as statues of the Virgin Mary secreting various oils
and scents.

284 Injured, 8 Killed in Horror Road Smash
United Arab Emirates: A 200 car pileup near Abu Dhabi has left at least 8
dead and around 284 injured. The accident, which is the worst in UAE history,
occurred in heavy fog early on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene with helicopters, ambulances,
and police vehicles being called into service. According to Zeeshan Javed, who
survived the accident, there are still injured lying on the road waiting for
assistance.
"I have never seen an accident of this magnitude. Some cars that had caught
fire were charred beyond recognition. This has to be the worst ever," said Javed. |

CDC:
1 in 4 Teen Girls Has an STD
More than 3 million teens have at least one STD says a new study, the first
of its kind of this age group. 838 girls provided nationally representative data
from 2003-04, analyzed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Dr.
Sara Forhan. The study found 1 in 4 teen girls to have an STD, and rates were
highest in black girls at nearly 1 in 2. Teens were tested for herpes, which
infected 2%; trichomoniasis, 2.5%; chlamydia, 4%; and HPV, 18% and potentially
causing cervical cancer. Dr. Margaret Blythe says this may seem, "overwhelming
because you're talking about nearly half of the sexually experienced teens at
any one time having evidence of an STD," but notes that it reflects what doctors
who treat teens daily see. |

Gilligan's Island: Mary Ann Arrested
Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island, will be
serving six months of probation after Deputy Joseph Gutierrez caught
her with marijuana in her car.
After the Deputy saw Wells swerving and slowing down and speeding
up, he pulled her over and noticed the smell of marijuana. Her
explanation for swerving was that she was trying to locate the
heater controls in her vehicle.
Dawn also stated that she had just dropped off three hitchhikers
who had started smoking something. The Deputy found half-smoked
joints in her vehicle, which her lawyer explained were from her
friend, who had left the weed in her car. |

Educational Holocaust Game Not Banned (Yet)
Contrary to some reports, Luc Bernard's upcoming Nintendo DS title
Imagination Is The Only Escape, an educational game set during the
Holocaust, has not been blocked or prevented from release. The title
puts players in the role of a French boy who escapes real-life
horror through an internalized fantasy world. It contains no
on-screen violence and presents historic facts about the Holocaust
alongside gameplay. Confusion and miscommunication regarding the
title and its controversial subject matter caused some to believe
the game had been blocked from release, as Nintendo told the The New
York Times that, "there are no plans for this game to be released
for any Nintendo platforms in North America." However, UK publisher
Alten8 quickly clarified the situation, noting that development is
at such an early stage that Nintendo has yet to be made aware of the
game's existence. "No one has blocked it, and it has no definitive
time scale for release," the company told Eurogamer. I don't think
the game will be banned," creator Bernard wrote to Kotaku. "[The
game] isn't just about the war, it's to try and teach children
something so they don't end up racist." Bernard noted that all
profits from the game will benefit the refugees and victims of
genocide in Darfur. The 21-year-old developer expects to finish up
his current title, Eternity's Child (Wii), within the month.
