Does anyone remember the game Obscure for PlayStation 2? It was a little known teen horror game about some flowers and monsters, or something like that. Looks like Ignition Entertainment is giving it a sequel.
Chicago-based music group The Audition features gameplay footage from Obscure: The Aftermath, the sequel to the original game, in its latest music video “Warm Me Up.” The Audition also provided a few songs for the live-action trailers for the game, probably in hopes that they'd score some CD sales. Piggybacking is becoming the new trend.
"The Audition is a fantastic band, and their energy on the single 'Warm Me Up' really compliments our teen horror game Obscure: The Aftermath," Ajay Chadha, president of Ignition Entertainment USA said about the partnership. "The videogame has a unique blend of genuine horror, witty dialogue and awesome co-op gameplay. It's only fitting that this one-of-a-kind game benefits from such a unique, synergetic collaboration between the music and videogame industries."
That's corporate speak for: “We want their fans to buy our game.” Whatever works.
The first trailer for the Obscure: The Aftermath follows the opening sequences of the game, which tells the story of the survivors from the original game during their college years. Like all good college boys and girls, they discover a mysterious black flower with addictive hallucinogenic effects, which also, surprisingly, turns people into monsters. There's that flower and monster thing again. The trailers were shot at the old American Greetings Creative Studios building outside Cleveland, Ohio. The same set of actors in the trailer video are also featured in The Audition's “Warm Me Up” music video.
Obscure: The Aftermath releases on March 25th for the PlayStation 2 and is rated “M” for mature.

Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King said in an interview with KCID radio on Friday that al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorists will dance in the streets like they did on 9-11 if Barack Obama is elected President of the United States. King said that al Qaeda will read meaning into Obama's middle name combined with his call U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. According to King, were it not for Obama's weak positions on national defense, his middle name would be of no consequence. Obama's campaign has called for John McCain to denounce Congressman King's comments. King has apologized in the past to Helen Thomas for a joke he made in public about a dead al Qaeda member and 72 virgins that looked like her.

Bush Veto's Water boarding Ban

President Bush has vetoed legislation that would ban the CIA from using interrogation techniques that some consider torture. The controversial water boarding technique, where prisoners are tied down and water is used to simulate drowning, was one of the techniques that was to be banned. Explaining his decision, Bush said that water boarding was "one of the most valuable tools in the war on terror." Critics claim that torturing foreign prisoners puts Americans at greater risk of torture if they are captured.

Seinfeld Sitcom Rumors Shot Down

A report in the New York Post today that stated comedian Jerry Seinfeld would be returning to NBC with a brand new sitcom has been slammed as completely false by Seinfeld's camp and the network.

The report was quite detailed, saying the sitcom would see Seinfeld playing himself in a series that had similarities to "Curb Your Enthusiasm". NBC spokesperson Rebecca Marks said of the report, "There's nothing to it."

Japan Attempted to Crossbreed Whales and Cows

Australia will call for the loophole allowing for whaling for scientific research to be closed at a meeting of the International Whaling Commission after a review of published scientific research suggested no useful science is being produced.

In 18 years Japan's scientific whaling program has produced only 43 papers. Half sought to establish whale mortality rates without a definitive result while the rest were a variety of oddities including attempting to cross-breed whales with cows.

"I challenge anyone to look at this sort of research and say it's necessary, to say it requires killing over 7000 whales... [It] is not science, it's not necessary - it's commercial whaling," said Australian Environment Minister Peter Garrett.
