Hefner's way is wrong way
It's hard to understand how so many women have come to
believe the greatest success women have achieved is
their right to take the life of their own unborn child.
But this anti-life attitude didn't come out of a vacuum.
At the height of the sexual revolution, Hugh Hefner
bankrolled the winning legal team for the bogus Roe vs.
Wade argument. A recent letter writer seems to fall
right in step with Hefner's philosophy.
While the entertainment industry pours forth its
oversexed garbage, its stars, so many with raunchy
lifestyles, also line up to sing the pro-choice praises.
And the glitter goes on, dazzling our susceptible
teeny-boppers. Sexy sells, and even the fashion industry
starts the 12-year-olds off with clothing that's “hot.”
That letter writer wants more of the same in the
schools. Keep throwing the kids condoms, no matter that
STD numbers have gone up, including about 30 kinds of
herpes, which is incurable. Never mind that teen
depression and suicide rates among girls are up.
Contraceptives never protect against broken hearts, and
offer very little protection against many diseases.
Teens need guidance, supervision, help with building
real relationships and respecting their bodies. The most
vulnerable teens, may have single parents or parents
raised in a different culture. The savvy parents now
home-school or send kids to religious schools.
Yes, let's get real. Deep in our hearts, we all want
real love and commitment. Sure, it can be hard, but
anything worthwhile takes discipline. Kids discipline
themselves in sports, music and academic achievement,
and they can do it to build a healthy family life. We
need to take back the culture from those who corrupt the
minds of our kids. Our public schools should be
cooperating with parents in fighting these forces, not
be complicit with them.

Court
Convicts Man of Murder; Hid Her Body in Steel Drum in Backyard in 1983
58-year-old Frederick Boyle, who pleaded not guilty in the murder of his wife
Edwina 23 years ago, has been convicted. He had stored her in the back yard of
his home on the southern outskirts of Melbourne using a steel drum.
Boyle said he found his wife, 30 years old at the time, dead from two gunshot
wounds to the head and a necktie of his tied around her throat while lying in
bed. Afraid he'd be a suspect since he was having an affair, he stashed the
body.
He said to the court, "Obviously, I didn't want to be charged with a murder I
didn't commit." The body was discovered by the husband of one of his two
daughters. He told them at the time that she had run off with a man who was a
truck driver
Woman Sues Hospital For Putting Her Miscarried Fetus in Her Bag
A hospital in Australia is being sued by a woman who says the fetus she
miscarried 18 weeks into her pregnancy was placed by staff into the bag
containing her personal effects. A towel was wrapped around it and inside a
package with her name on it.
The hospital has been sued many times in recent weeks for malpractice,
including a damaged penis from a collapsed operating bed during a procedure; a
girl suffering brain damage during birth; and a death due to excessive bleeding
after giving birth.
Luke Mullane, Ballarat Health spokesman, said recommendations will be
considered on improving quality, adding there "have been a number of changes
made in our procedures to ensure that families have the opportunity to consider
their care options."
Man in London Lived with Corpse for 8 Years
After years of neighbors complaining of a stench, a cleaning crew found a
70-year-old man's corpse lying on his couch.
The police arrested the other occupant of the house, but have since concluded
the death was not suspicious.
Apparently the other occupant, also in his 70's, was suffering from mental
health issues. A neighbor assumed that he suffered from poor hygiene. |

A
down and out musician was playing his harmonica in the middle of a busy shopping
mall. Striding over, a policeman asked, "May I please see your permit?" I don't
have one," confessed the musician. "In that case, you'll have to accompany me."
"Splendid!" exclaimed the musician. "What shall we sing?" |

Writers Strike Nearing End?
The strike of Hollywood writers could end as soon as Monday if the guild
finds a proposed contract favorable. The guild is meeting this weekend to
consider the proposal, and writers expressed a mix of optimism and skepticism.
While Hilary Winston, a 'My Name Is Earl' writer, said her feelings are
"relief and optimism and excitement," Erik Oleson said he wouldn't "drink the
Kool-Aid and accept a bad deal. I'd rather continue the strike ... what matters
is the fine print."
If the guild shows support for the proposal by the Alliance of Motion Picture
and Television Producers, dozens of shows could return to production, putting
thousands of entertainment employees back on the job. |
