JENA SIX TEEN CHARGED
WITH ASSAULT: Bryant Purvis, 19, had a situation with a schoolmate
in Dallas.
A member of Louisiana's Jena Six was charged Wednesday with one
count of assault causing bodily injury for fighting with a fellow
student at his high school in Texas, his mother told the Shreveport
Times.
Bryant R. Purvis, who now lives in
Dallas, was detained in the Carrollton, Texas, jail without bail
pending a bond hearing Thursday morning.
Tina Jones, Purvis’ mother, said her
son got into an altercation with another student at Hebron High
School early Wednesday after being told the student had vandalized
his car the night before.
According to Jones, Purvis, 19,
didn't really fight the student, but rather “grabbed him by the
collar and pushed his head on the table, talking to him,” she
said.
“Bryant was very upset because he had
a (basketball) game Tuesday night and, when (he went out to his car
after) the game, someone made both tires on the passenger side
flat,” Jones told the newspaper. “And (Wednesday) morning, someone
told him who done it. That’s the reason the altercation happened.
And a few days before that happened, he was driving my brother’s
truck and someone stole the tires and busted the windows out of it.”
Purvis is one six black Jena High
School students initially charged with attempted murder in
connection with a Dec. 4, 2006, assault on white student Justin
Barker at the LaSalle Parish school. Soon after Purvis’ arrest,
Jones said she sent him to live with his uncle, Dallas Cowboys
defensive lineman Jason Hatcher, so he could stay out of trouble and
out of the limelight.
Purvis' assault charge is a Class A
misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a $4,000 fine and a year in
jail.

Woman
Beaten by Boyfriend, Falls Off Balcony; Cops Told Him She's a Man
Two officers in New South Wales are facing breach of privacy charges after
they told 26-year-old Garrick Jacobson, who was being held last September for
being suspected of theft, that according to their records his girlfriend was
once a man.
Brigitte Fell underwent a sex change operation in 1996. She said Jacobson was
never told because "he was temperamental enough." He ended up going to her
place. "He was belting the hell out of me," she said. Then she fell off a
balcony.
She said, "My whole face was broken," suffering a concussion, later waking up
with blood all over her. Fell said only 3-4 people knew. Jacobson, upon
returning to the station, said he went to her house "to cut her hair off ... she
was a she-man."
Billionaire Sued Again For Luring Underage Girls to His Home to Molest Them
55-year-old Jeffrey Epstein has been sued again, having just been sued
January 24. Both cases involve claims that Epstein lured underage girls to give
him massages back at his mansion, which ended up becoming sexual. Each case
seeks over $50m.
The latest suit involves a 19-year-old woman who was 16 at the time, and says
Epstein paid her $200 to disrobe and massage him. He removed his towel at some
point and moved onto his back and began to touch her sexually and masturbated.
The suits also claim he targeted girls who were economically disadvantaged
and seemed to be someone who would keep quiet, or whose credibility would be
questioned had they spoke. The attorney working both cases says more victims
have contacted him.
Stranger Give Couple a Blank Cheque, Couple Cash it for $100,000
Iowa: A couple identified only as Alissa and Barry are $100,000 richer after
a mysterious stranger approached them while they were eating in a cafe. The
elderly man also left a $100 tip for the waitress.
The man asked if they had children and when they told him they had a little
girl he offered them a blank cheque and told them to write a figure of their
choosing. The bemused couple chose $100,000 and to their surprise it cashed.
The man told the pair he regretted not having grandchildren and set a couple
of conditions on the money. The couple are to remain anonymous, use the money
for a house, and, if they have a son, name it after him. |

Chronic Cell Phone Users Have Less Quality Sperm
A study involving 361 men has found that spending hours a day on your cell
phone can lower the quality of your sperm. Men who used their cell phone a lot
had a lower sperm count, but also had a higher incidence of abnormal sperm.
Lead researcher Dr. Ashok Agarwal said: "Our results show a strong
association of cell phone use with decreased semen quality. However, they do not
prove a cause-and- effect relationship."
Men in the study who said they used their cell phone for four or more hours a
day, had the lowest sperm and the least viable sperm. Dr Agarwal is working with
fellow researchers on two other studies to bring awareness to the issue |

Reports are circulating that 25-year-old movie star Kirsten Dunst has entered
the Cirque Lodge Center in Utah, a rehabilitation facility, after friends asked
her to seek help for unreported problems.
A source spoke to People magazine, stating: "She's not doing well. People
were pushing her to go in there but there was no intervention ... It's good
she's getting herself help." Dunst shot to fame as a child vampire in "Interview

EBay to Ban Seller Reviews Reflecting Badly on Buyers
Internet auction giant eBay has announced its plans to ban sellers from
giving negative reviews to buyers. The plan has come about because the company
has found that sellers retaliate to bad views from buyers by leaving their own
bad views.
The plan will go into effect in May, meaning sellers will no longer be
allowed to leave unfavourable or neutral buyer views. It will apply on all eBay
sites across the globe. The announcement has angered many eBay sellers.
EBay answered critics of the plan, stating: "If a buyer doesn't pay, the
seller can easily contact eBay, we will review any complaint and maybe remove
the buyer." It then said, however, that only a small number of sellers leave
negative feedback.
Facebook Launches Spanish Service
Popular social networking site Facebook.com has officially launched its
Spanish-language service. The move is seen by many as an attempt to catch up
with MySpace.com, which already provides for Spanish speakers and is offered in
12 other languages.
Facebook has approximately 64 million active users, and 60% of them are from
outside the United States. This means that translating Facebook into more
languages has become a priority for the development team.
Anyone accessing Facebook from a Spanish-speaking country will automatically
be routed to the Spanish service from next week onwards.
