Man With no ID at US Airport Gets
Through Using Magazine Photo Instead
West Virginia: Danny Jones, mayor of Charleston, could
not produce his driver's license when prompted for it at
Orange County's John Wayne Airport in California. After
trying to use his expired one, he remembered his picture in
a magazine he had. While heading out west on vacation, he
had purchased an issue of Charleston Magazine, which
happened to include a picture of him and an accompanying
article he wrote, meant to welcome tourists to the capital
of the state. He was then allowed to fly.
Abuse of OxyContin on the Rise Among
Teens
OxyContin is a widely abused drug intended for moderate
to severe pain in last resort patients where other drugs or
therapies have no effect. I have done extensive research and
found that everyone I spoke with knows of someone using this
drug. A doctor locally had perscribed this drug repeatedly
to an undercover officer and had learned to beat the heat by
now testing his patients before he gives them a new script.
This is the way drugs are now being prescribed. Soma,
Vicodin are others. The street value is $15-40 a pill. When
the price is too high for them, they resort to street herion.
The rapid rise in its' use among our teens is
staggering--more than any other.
Barack Obama gambles on driver's
licenses for Illegals
Attempting to gain ground against Hillary Clinton among
the Latino population, Barack Obama is bringing his support
of driver's licenses for Illegals to the forefront in
California. Mrs. Clinton made a huge political mistake in
the first Democrat debate last fall when she at first
supported, then retreated from, the issue in regarding
Illegals in New York. She now believes a solution lies in
"comprehensive immigration reform". While issuing licenses
to the Illegals may gain support among Latinos in the
primaries, Democrat strategists Stan Greenberg and James
Carville have expressed concern that sixty-six percent of
the U.S. electorate are in opposition.
Japan Commits $10 Billion to Fighting
Global Warming
Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda announced his
nation's $10 billion fund for reducing greenhouse emissions
at the World Economic Forum. The fund has been dubbed the
Cool Earth Partnership and will aid third-world economies.
The money will be paid over five years to mitigate global
warming and develop renewable energy technology. In
addition, Japan will invest $30 billion in
climate-change-related research & development over the same
time span. "This is a very challenging task, and it will
require a tremendous investment in technology," Fukuda said.
His announcement comes days after the emirate of Abu Dhabi
pledged $15 billion to fighting global warming. |

Boy, 11, Deaf in One Ear Since Age 2, Suddenly
Starts Hearing Again
11-year-old Jerome Bartens was only two when he was diagnosed with
partial deafness in one ear. But when a piece of cotton fell out the
other day, his hearing was suddenly perfect once more. He was told it
was wax and would eventually just go away He said "I was just playing
pool in the church hall when my ear made a popping noise. It was very
strange at first to be able to hear everything. But now I'm getting used
to it," adding it's nice not to have to turn towards others or have them
shout. "I am amazed they didn't spot something as obvious as a cotton
wool bud," said his father Carsten, who'd have to yell 8-9 times to get
his attention. He said he has filed a complaint with his GP. His family
thinks his growth slowly forced it out.
Best Selling Game of 2007 Named
Call of Duty 4 has been named the highest selling game of 2007,
selling more than seven million units since it shipped in November. The
sales figures used to judge last year's best selling game were gathered
by research groups. Call of Duty 4 also sold more units globally than
Halo 3, and Microsoft said the one-person-shooter was its most popular
game on the Xbox Live service. Halo 3 did earn the most money in a day
ever for an entertainment product, including films. Call of Duty 4
publisher Activision said: "We're very excited about this achievement
especially given so many competitive titles this year.
Paramount to court teens with Habbo
Deal allows studio to create, sell virtual goods
Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment has inked a licensing deal with
online virtual world Habbo to court teens with the studio's pics.
Deal will enable the studio to create and sell virtual goods based off
its slate of films. First to get the push will be "The Spiderwick
Chronicles," "Beowulf" and "Mean Girls." Items will include, for
example, themed apparel to accessorize avatars, and virtual furniture.
Habbo is considered the largest online virtual world for teens, with
more than 1.8 million members among the demographic in North America. It
has 8 million unique users visiting the site worldwide. Par pact
is Habbo's first with a major studio. Par is courting others to use its
films to attract young demos as well, while giving Habbo new merchandise
to offer its user base. Habbo had already been developing an
original animated series with Lionsgate to appear on the site.
"The Habbo audience demands that their community reflect today's
real-world pop culture entertainment landscape," said Teemu Huuhtanen,
executive VP of Habbo business and the company's North America prexy.
"By establishing a licensing deal with a leading studio like Paramount
Pictures Digital Entertainment, we are able to produce themed virtual
goods relevant to the movies our teen audience is watching, while
simultaneously implementing impactful promotional campaigns for the
studio."

"The thrill is gone from my marriage,"
Brian told his best friend Mike. "Why
not add some intrigue to your life, and
have an affair?" his friend suggested.
"But what if my wife finds out?" "Heck,
we are almost on the beginning of the
21st century, Brian. Go ahead and tell
her about it!" So Brian went home and
said, "Dear, I think an affair will
bring us closer together." "Forget it,"
said his wife. "I've tried that many
times - it never worked." |

Bush Cranks Up
Anti-Iran Hysteria
Despite an apparent recent warming of
relations between Iran and Washington
.George W Bush used his state of the
Union speech last night to accuse Iran
of supporting terror and called the
elected governments of Hezbollah and
Hamas terrorist groups. Attempts
to rally support for an attack on Iran
were dampened last month when a US
intelligence report admitted Tehran’s
claims that it was not developing a
nuclear weapons program. Bush said in
his speech "Iran is also developing
ballistic missiles of increasing range.
It continues to develop its capabilities
to enrich uranium which could be used to
create a nuclear weapon." |

Music Isn't Illegal to Download Anymore
Starting today, over 25 million different songs can be
had for free on a new service called Qtrax. It's a move
which the music industry hopes will win back customers by
giving them what they want. EMI, Warner and Universal all
endorse the project. They are hoping that limited
advertising on the Qtrax website will be tolerated
considering their selection of free music. It will employ
peer-to-peer software, and in April an iPod compatibility
solution will be announced. Proportional payouts to record
companies, artists and publishers will be made based on the
music's popularity, to be logged using Digital Rights
Management software. Qtrax encourages users to "dock"
monthly so they can get your play history.. |

Insanity Plea For Man Accused of Animal
Sex, Molesting a Boy
Ohio: 56-year-old North Ridgeville resident Jonel
Berlovan has had a not guilty plea by reason of insanity
entered for him by his attorney in a case involving charges
of cruelty to companion animals and gross sexual imposition.
The boy in the case is roughly six years old and was
molested from 2004 until last October. He had sex with his
rottweilers and sheep going back 13 years. Knowing this, his
attorney will have mental health experts evaluate him.
Authorities say that when Berlovan was confronted by them,
he admitted to the charges.
